“Make Him Sandwich, Woman”- Dwayne Johnson Once Laid Out the Severe Consequences of Being ‘The Rock’ at Home in Front of His Ex-Wife

Dwayne Johnson and Dany Garcia got married in 1997 and ultimately filed for divorce in 2008, about a decade later. Like every other couple, the two must have shared a unique dynamic. The Rock once appeared on the set of NBC’s ‘Later Today’ in 2000. He had been married to Garcia for 3 years at the time of the interview and was building a successful career in WWE. Dwayne Johnson was talking about his gimmick and how he talks in the third person inside the ring. When the interviewer started complimenting him for being a down-to-earth person, she asked if ‘The Rock’ ever manifests itself in Johnson’s personal life. To this, he had an interesting reply.

Johnson said, “At home I certainly don’t say, ‘Hey The Rock says make him a sandwich, woman’.” And when the interviewer asked him the reason for that, he answered, “Well, number one, I’ll be on the couch. Two, she’d lay the SmackDown on me.”

According to him, Garcia wouldn’t have appreciated him smudging the line between his personality and his in-ring gimmick. So, ‘The Brahma Bull’ kept the boundaries clear.

Eight years after this interview, the couple split up. However, unlike most divorces, Johnson claims that theirs wasn’t ‘ugly’. He even shared the reason behind the same.

Despite being married for more than a decade, the couple realized they are not fit for each other. In the end, they decided to file for a divorce. However, it did not turn out to be as ‘ugly’ as one would expect. During a 2020 interview, Johnson revealed that the reason behind it was the fact that they believed that marriage wasn’t ‘in their cards’.

The duo realized that they can remain friends and business partners but not spouses. Perhaps it was this mature thought and acceptance that helped the couple separate amicably, without much ‘ugliness’. In the interview, ‘The Brahma Bull’ didn’t discuss whether the process of separation was painful. However, since the two are still friends and business partners, they probably moved on in a healthy way.
