A profession often starts ‘running’ in the family. Generation after generation, family members keep on opting for the same career choices as their elder family members. This creates a line of people well-versed in a profession. We can see a similar structure in the pro wrestling world and Dwayne Johnson is also a part of it. The Rock’s father, Rocky Johnson, and maternal grandfather, Peter Maivia were also well-known wrestlers of their time.

In fact, when Johnson started with WWE, his name was taken as a tribute to his elders who played an important role in the wrestling industry. Down the line, Johnson passed on the baton to his first daughter, Simone Johnson. However, the WWE legend could have some trouble seeing his little girl up inside the ring according to a former WWE personality.

Why would Dwayne Johnson not want Simone in the ring?

Simone Johnson, also known through her ring name Ava Raine, has been training hard for around a year. Raine probably inherited the will to perform from his father and also developed a passion for wrestling by watching him. Simone signed with WWE back in 2020. However, it wasn’t until early this year that she debuted as Ava Raine and joined the NXT group ‘Schism’. Siding with her faction also got her in a feud with Ivy Nile that WWE might be planning to build forward.

Despite how promising her career appeared due to The Rock’s past in the industry, some doubts have started to flood in.

Former WWE manager Dutch Mantell recently gave his opinion on Ava Raine. When his podcast co-host asked him what he thinks of her skills having trained for a year, Mantell had several doubts inside his head. He began by saying that Raine is still “green” in the wrestling business. So, he believes that her inclusion in any show might backfire at WWE because of how ‘raw’ or ‘untrained’ she is as a wrestler. “She’s been training for a solid year. We can’t even blame it on the knee surgeries, but she is very, very green,” the former wrestler said about Raine.

Moreover, being Dwayne Johnson’s biological daughter, fans would have several expectations from her because of her wrestling background.

Mantell further claimed, “I think Rock wouldn’t allow her to be on TV right now because it reflects poorly on him and the family.

He added, “Again, this is no knock on her. She is learning and, in her own head, she may be saying she’d know a certain level of expertise is expected of her, and she knows she’s not there.” Mantell also said Raine is atleast 2 years away from being considered for the main roster given her wrestling skills.

In fact, a week ago, fans also started to complain. Several of them took to Twitter and bombarded a WWE post with comments regarding Raine’s performance. The comments targeted the fact that despite being The Rock’s daughter, Raine is still pretty ‘green’.

At the start of her career, fans were speculating Simone to touch new heights. This was particularly because of her father’s name attached to her. Soon after her debut, speculations started coming in that WWE might have some big in store for her. For example, her possibility to join The Bloodline when another female member left the promotion.
