Along with his ability to demolish opponents with his physical strength, Brock Lesnar also possesses a razor-sharp tongue. The WWE icon is also not afraid to use it at times. While he has earned his stripes as a veteran in the company, completing 21 years in the main roster in March this year, Lesnar has been brutally honest with his takes even as a trainee.

During an interview in 2001, then in his early 20s, The Beast Incarnate slammed one of his iconic opponents- Goldberg, while praising Vince McMahon.

Lesnar has had a love-hate relationship with Vince McMahon. There was a time when he ditched the WWE and engaged in a bitter feud with the wrestling impresario after getting stuck with the promotion’s stipulations. Similarly, he was also not short of praise for the legendary promoter during the later part of his career.

But before Lesnar could flex his muscles in the WWE and call his shots, he had words of praise for the 77-year-old. This, however, came at the expense of Bill Goldberg and WWE Hall of Famer Scott Steiner. The said interview was conducted by Dave Meltzer and Bryan Alvarez and aired on March 29, 2001. During this time Lesnar was in WWE’s developmental territory OVW.

Just on the heels of Vinnie Mac’s purchase of WCW, the hosts asked the young wrestler if McMahon needed the services of proven stars Goldberg and Steiner to keep his company going. Lesnar said McMahon could do away with both as he had the ability to make big stars.

“Vince can make anybody into a Scott Steiner or a Goldberg. He can make his own person, I think,” he said. To prove his point, he also name-dropped The Rock and Stone Cold Steve Austin, who were WWE stars and became the poster boys of the Attitude Era.

“He doesn’t need somebody’s success already to build off of it. Look at The Rock or Austin, all his top talent, he doesn’t need somebody. That’s my opinion on it,” Lesnar added.

Both Steiner and Goldberg, however, helped the WWE to add more shine to its hallowed roster. Goldberg also went on to have an iconic feud with Lesnar a few years after the interview.

Underwhelming WrestleMania 20 match to 90-second shocker: The Brock Lesnar-Bill Goldberg rivalry

Goldberg made his WWE debut a year after Lesnar, in 2003. Their first big encounter came in WrestleMania 20 in 2004. By the time they got to the match, the WWE Universe was aware that both superstars were leaving the company. One can imagine the excitement level of the match during the bout!

After the underwhelming performance which was lost by Lesnar, he and Goldberg met in 2016. The senior peer squashed the 46-year-old in 90 seconds at Survivor Series 2016. But do you know whose idea it was?

According to Goldberg, it was Lesnar who suggested the shocking loss. The 56-year-old was thoroughly impressed by Lesnar’s unselfish nature and said he learned a lot about his peer during their interaction ahead of the match.

Lesnar later got his chance though. At WrestleMania 33 in 2017, he won the WWE Universal Championship by defeating his iconic rival, thus having the last laugh. That was also the last of their storied encounters.
