John Cena‘s new movie Ricky Stanicky will hit theaters on March 7, 2024. In promoting the comedy movie, we saw him discussing the making of the film on numerous talk shows. The Hollywood actor known for his calm and pleasing demeanor recounted his experience meeting the director of the 1994 cult classic Dumb and Dumber. During the promotion of his new movie, John Cena was on The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon. While the two talked about multiple things at the start, they finally discussed the movie. While talking about the movie, Fallon realized that Peter Farrelly directed it. Fallon worked with Farrelly in the 2005 movie Fever Pitch. This led to the talk show host asking Cena if Farrelly pulled any pranks while on set with Cena. The WWE legend answered in the positive and recounted the first time he met the director for a table read. Farrelly also directed Dumb and Dumber. John Cena said about his encounter, “I’m dressed like this. I’m taking my wife out to dinner afterwards. I’m way overdressed for a table read.”

He continued by asking Fallon to help him reenact the scene of John Cena meeting Farrelly. According to Cena, the director asked him for his coat like a waiter would do at a restaurant. After getting it, the director apparently threw it on the ground while the Hollywood star looked shocked.
However, this was all a prank by the director as he has a unique quote he lives by.

Cena said, “Comedy should be fun. Tonight should be fun. This is a fun environment, and he lives by that.” This is a quote that Farrelly lives by. Both Cena and Fallon agreed that the director liked to ease the tension with his actors. This is not the only amusing interaction the WWE star had when discussing a role for a movie.
Cena talks about how he got the role in Barbie by accident
Fallon brought up the Barbie movie during the opening of Cena’s segment. Cena played a merman Ken in the movie for a camera appearance. According to Cena, he ran into Margot Robbie while he was out. Having worked together on The Suicide Squad movie together, she was excited to see him.

Robbie told Cena that he should be in the Barbie movie, to which Cena claimed he wanted to be. Robbie, at the time, was with the people involved in the casting process, and they cast the WWE star.
