“Last Time I Saw That Guy…”: Cody Rhodes’ 12-Years Long Partner Shares a Horrific Memory About the New WWE SmackDown General Manager

This season’s premiere episode of SmackDown was a complete thriller for the fans. With massive returns like Roman Reigns standoffs with John Cena and Cody Rhodes, this episode was action-packed to the brim. During the show, Triple H made an in-ring appearance to announce the new SmackDown general manager.

However, not everyone has a great memory of the new GM. One former WWE star took to social media to recount a horrific memory they have.

Brandi Rhodes took an elbow from Nick Aldis

On this episode of SmackDown, Triple H appointed Nick Aldis as the new General Manager of SmackDown. Aldis, a former English pro wrestler, has been in the business for years now. He’s best known for his tenure in the National Wrestling Alliance between 2017 and 2022. He was also part of TNA.

Despite what the ring announcement team claimed about Aldis being very professional, one former WWE star didn’t agree. Taking to social media, Brandi Rhodes put up a status. The wife of Cody Rhodes for 12 years had a memory of Aldis that wasn’t something she wanted to remember.

She posted, “Last time I saw that guy he hit me with an elbow off the top rope.” This was a reference to the match between her husband Rhodes and Aldis for the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship. This match took place at All In on 1 September 2018. Aldis was the reigning champion and, mid-match, wanted to hit Rhodes with an elbow from the top rope.

This was when Brandi stepped into the ring and pleaded with Aldis not to. Despite her begging, he positioned himself for the move. With no option remaining, Brandi covered her husband with her own body. Aldis hit the elbow off the top rope on Brandi.

This gave Rhodes the chance to pick up the win.

Aldis was not the only new member of SmackDown

This episode of SmackDown had quite a few twists and turns. While Hunter introduced Aldis as the new GM of SmackDown, Aldis had an announcement of his own. Taking the mic, he announced the newest member of the Smackdown Roster, Kevin Owens.

Despite being rudely interrupted by Dominik Mysterio, Owens made his presence felt. Taking to the ring, Owens hit Dominik with a Stunner while the fans applauded. Owens was brought to SmackDown as Jey Uso was sent to RAW.
