WWE legend John Cena is arguably one of the greatest names in the world of professional wrestling. The 45-year-old became one of the top stars ever since he made his debut in the company. Cena created history on June 27th 2002, after he made his debut against Kurt Angle.

Recently during his podcast, Angle discussed how he had a vital hand behind Cena’s success. Cena hailed from the OVW class of 2002, which also included Randy Orton, Brock Lesnar, and Batista. One of the most celebrated OVW talents of all time, people had high hopes for Cena.

John Cena would fulfill every one of those expectations, and reach the top spot in the company, and WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle claimed he was one of the main reasons behind his success. Speaking on the podcast, he dropped certain points which according to him helped Cena grow as a wrestler.

How according to Kurt Angle he helped John Cena grow as a pro wrestler?

John Cena is a 16-time world champion. Speaking on the podcast, Kurt Angle took credit for building Cena as a wrestler and a main-eventer. He said, “I actually built John up. His career when he began was a lot with me, a lot of matches. We were going back and forth, and it was great for both of us.”

Cena had created an instant impact from the very moment he first stepped foot into the ring. Although Angle defeated Cena, the latter earned the respect of the fans and the other superstars backstage in the process.

Cena put forward an impressive performance on his very first night and impressed critics everywhere. However, Angle believed he was the reason behind John Cena’s future success, and it helped him as well. He said, ” You know because it grew John into a main-eventer it gave me more value too.”

Both Cena and Angle are two legends of the sport, and each in their own celebrated way.

What has WWE planned for John Cena in the future?

John Cena has long left being a full-time superstar for WWE and is mainly focused on his Hollywood career currently. Cena recently appeared in Fast X and impressed the fans with his comic timing, and action scenes.

However, his future plans in WWE are still unclear. His last appearance came at WrestleMania 39 when he met Austin Theory in the ring in a losing effort. Cena put over Theory, and passed the torch to him, potentially making him the next big star in the company.
