More updates are now available on former AEW World Champion Kenny Omega as he was forced to take a hiatus due to his illness. Wrestling journalist Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Newsletter reported that the former AEW Champion Kenny Omega was at potential risk of death due to the nature of his illness and had only narrowly dodged a bullet.
Omega has been out of action since the 12/13 episode of Dynamite
He stated, “He [Kenny Omega] was told when diagnosed that he was very lucky he went in because the situation could have been catastrophic, such as getting a blood infection, if he wasn’t diagnosed at the time he was, which would have something like a 50 percent chance of death.”

Omega had a 50% chance of survival when diagnosed with diverticulitis, as informed by doctors. Diverticulitis is a condition where small pouches (diverticula) in the digestive tract become inflamed or infected. Symptoms include abdominal pain, fever, nausea, and changes in bowel habits. Treatment often involves antibiotics, a liquid diet, and, in severe cases, surgery to remove affected areas.

Since Omega requires surgery, we can infer that his situation was severe. Also, it requires a lot of rest and a strict diet, so, it’s likely that Omega will not enter the ring any time soon. Meltzer interacted with Omega earlier to get an update on his wrestling career. He said, “I don’t know how long he’s going to be out, and I don’t think anyone does. It was a very, very serious situation by the time he got to the hospital.”
As of now, there is uncertainty over Omega’s wrestling career as he takes an indefinite leave from AEW. He was last seen at the 12/13 show in Arlington, TX. Omega was in severe pain backstage and after the promo ended, he went to the hospital where he was diagnosed.
