After his recent return to WWE, Vince McMahon has set his distance from the on-screen work. However, he was known for delivering amazing promos earlier. And if we go a little further, then during the 80s and 90s, Vince McMahon was no less than a promo king.

But with time, he lost the smoothness of his voice. The American author and former WWE employee Jim Cornette just revealed the real reason behind Vince McMahon’s health problem. He blamed his strive for perfection for that.

On a recent episode of his podcast, Jim Cornette had a lot to say about Vince McMahon. During the podcast, a segment came when Cornette was questioned about the possible reason behind the distortion of Vince McMahon’s voice with time.

To this, the American author immediately replied that it was yelling behind the screen that made him suffer later. He mentioned that when you get older, your voice naturally gets deeper and the same thing happened to Vince McMahon.

Talking about Vince McMahon’s voice, Jim Cornette said, “Yelling and barking instructions…..As you get older naturally your voice gets deeper……when you’ve done that for a long time. And I remember they used to joke back at the WrestleMania 3 ‘all right back from Franklin that queen of soul’…… You know that has had to have you know and he’s 80.”

According to Cornette, not only Vince McMahon, but some other WWE superstars also had to face voice issues. And that is all due to over-exaggerated promos.

Vince McMahon and his hunger for perfect promos turned out to be a problem for the WWE employees

Later in the podcast, Jim Cornette revealed that Vince McMahon’s zeal for perfect promos turned out to be a problem for other superstars in the company as well. He mentioned that the WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley ended up damaging his vocal cords, as he had to work for hours, even after being sick.

“I’ve mentioned Mick Foley damaged his vocal cords doing the squeal. And I used to try to yell when I was sick……Or on TV tapings we did f*cking hours and hours of TV every week. I would power through it and you over a period of time you got Scar Tissue on various things. But he sounds like he’s not really…….it’s not like just he’s hoarse he’s f*cking, not all there.”
