Tonight’s SmackDown teased a big upcoming PLE theme, and a personal feud is to be credited for the same. Adam Pearce was kicked off of the blue brand. The reason for this was nobody other than Jey Uso.

Jey and Jimmy Uso faced off each other when the ‘Main Event’ showed up to save John Cena from a brutal beatdown at the hands of his brothers. Little did the fans know how this could be a big future tease for a SmackDown vs Raw-themed Survivor Series.

Jey Uso, who is a superstar on the RAW brand, showed up on SmackDown tonight with a mask, attacking his twin while saving Cena.  The reason behind this attack was Jimmy Uso costing him the tag titles on RAW earlier this week. However, after he revealed his face, the feud became much more personal and security rushed in to take Jey Uso away.

Backstage, new SmackDown GM Nick Aldis fined Uso $10,000 for breaking the barriers between the two brands. However, the former GM of SmackDown, Adam Pearce, was on Jey Uso’s side, saying that Jimmy also did the same by appearing on Monday Night a while back.

Aldis didn’t consider any of it, kicking out both Uso and Pearce. As Adam, who is now the new GM of Raw, was leaving, he muttered under his breath, “Let the games begin.”

This could be an early tease to the traditional SmackDown vs Raw theme at the upcoming Survivor Series PLE in November.

The history of WWE Survivor Series and the brand supremacy theme

Survivor Series has been one of the longest-running PLEs of WWE. The first show was held in 1987. In 2005, the promotion embraced a ‘brand supremacy’ theme for the first for SS. Much like the PS2 video game ‘SmackDown vs Raw’, Survivor Series was introduced to a similar concept.

However, WWE dropped this idea, only to revive it again in 2016. The Stamford-based company invested in this competition between its two brands until 2021. In fact, NXT also joined the game in 2019, but that idea was scrapped the following year.

So far, the brand record is 20-12, with Monday Night Raw securing a total of 20 victories and Friday Night SmackDown behind them by eight victories. In 2022, the promotion rebranded the show and named it ‘Survivor Series: Wargames’

Since WWE hasn’t yet announced the theme for this year, we are still speculating what it can turn out to be. However, the current scenarios suggest that the brand supremacy theme might be coming back.
