James Gunn Pens a Heartfelt Note on John Cena’s Birthday With a Rare Image of the 16-Time World Champion “Killing It on the Dance Floor”

After carving out a name for himself in the wrestling industry, John Cena also etched his legacy in Hollywood. Not only did he enter the industry, but gave massive hits as well. One of the arguably biggest ventures that brought him tons of momentum is James Gunn’s Suicide Squad, released in 2021. Since then, it appears like the duo has bonded closely as the writer-director of the film penned a heartfelt birthday wish to Cena. 

For those who don’t know, James Gunn is also the current co-CEO of DC Studios. Therefore, in the uncountable projects of DCEU, Gunn has worked with multiple WWE wrestlers. Be it Dwayne Johnson, Dave Bautista, or John Cena, all of them have been a part of the DC Universe. However, it’s no secret that The Rock’s current equation with the studios is not at its best. But Cena’s relationship with Gunn seems to be exemplary.

On the auspicious occasion of The Cenation Leader’s birthday, the renowned filmmaker of Hollywood took to Twitter to wish him. In his short heartfelt note that he wrote for the entire world to see, Gunn mentioned his infinite love for Cena. Not only did he write about the qualities that we know The Champ for, but he also expressed his desire to work with the former WWE star again.

In the tweet, he wrote, “Happy Birthday, @johncena! One of the great joys of my life has been working with this man, a person of incredible talent, compassion, integrity and kindness. I love him to death and am counting the days until we work together again. Here he is killing it on the dance floor at our wedding with the Peacemaker dance.”

With the beautiful message, The Suicide Squad director also posted some rare pictures from his wedding that showed Cena in a never seen avatar. The monochromatic pictures from James Gunn’s wedding with actress Jennifer Holland showed Cena ‘killing it on the dance floor’ with his Peacemaker dance.  

The Tweet itself shows how much the filmmaker loves the 16-time World Champion. Along with this, a few days ago, Gunn also clarified season two of The Peacemaker. 

The Peacemaker creator gives hope to many Cena fans

The 56-year-old filmmaker has already been honest about his casting of WWE Legends, Cena, and Bautista. However, he has recently responded to a query from a fan that might have answered the questions of many. 

A DC fan asked if at all, The Peacemaker season two is happening or not. And in response, Gunn said, “Yes after Superman.” This must have given hope to all Cena fans who loved his character as The Peacemaker, which led to a spinoff series solely based on him.
