The people of Hawaii were hit by a natural calamity a few months ago. As the reports of the dangerous wildfire spread across the globe, people hoped for salvation in whichever way possible. During this, Dwayne Johnson had set up a donation for the people suffering in Maui, Hawaii. Months after his hard work, Johnson got to meet a special fan who remembered him.

In heartwarming pictures shared by The Brahma Bull on Instagram, he was seen with the 13-year-old Tony Noe Bravo Fononga. The teenager and his family have survived the Maui wildfire. As Johnson wrote in his caption, he was excited to meet Fononga and his family. He also remarked that the strength of the family in these trying times was commendable. Johnson concluded by saying, “It’s what we do as Polynesian people.”

The 2023 Maui fires were one of the most devastating wildfires to hit American soil in the last 100 years. Due to this, Johnson decided to help the people of Maui, his motherland. During this time, Johnson, along with Oprah Winfrey, had set up the People’s Fund of Maui to aid the people caught in the wildfire.

However, the two initially faced a lot of backlash. People were criticizing the two as the nation was suffering a bit of economic turmoil. There were concerns about how people who are in need of money can contribute to the noble cause. After an extensive backlash, Johnson decided to voice his opinions.

In an X (formerly Twitter) post, Johnson decided to send a message to all the people who were criticizing him. He tried to explain to the people the dire situation of Maui. Johnson then declared that apart from his other efforts for the people of Maui, he has donated $5 million to the fund. Along came Oprah Winfrey who also donated $5 Million making a total of $10 million as a start.

According to reports, almost 100 people met their untimely demise during the natural disaster. Apart from that, 12,000 people have been displaced from their homes. Recently, the governor of Hawaii has been taking the initiative to provide homes to displaced people. Along with that, there have been initiatives underway to help prevent such a massive impact by natural disasters in the near future. Our hopes and prayers go out to the strong people of Hawaii.
