“It’s Very Funny”: Despite Having Real Heat With Dwayne Johnson in 2013, as WWE Legend Reveals, John Cena Had to Retract His Words

The return of John Cena and Dwayne Johnson has done wonders for WWE. The episode in which both the mega stars were seen together is one of the most talked about. It brought back fans’ faith in the promotion, especially as it was recently acquired by UFC’s parent company, Endeavor Group Holdings. As this is John Cena’s second coming, Johnson is not new to visiting his old stomping ground as he has previously done the same.

But after Cena’s return, one retired WWE star called out how it was time for Cena to retract his words.

John Cena was not happy with The Rock’s return

Well-known WWE star Matt Hardy has been known for the controversy he stirs on his podcast. On a recent episode of The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy, he talked about the 2012 Dwayne Johnson return. According to Hardy, The Leader of Cenation was not quite pleased with the 51-year-old star’s return. He said, “I love the fact that there was a point where John Cena legitimately criticized Rock a little bit because he was like he was deep in the trenches”. According to Hardy, John Cena was working a lot to make a name for himself. He was making as many appearances as possible. But The Brahma Bull’s return made him criticize his entrance, as it seemed like Johnson had become a big Hollywood star and expected the same star treatment on his return.

He then further said, “It’s very funny how to fast forward down the road, John Cena ends up making the same transition and then he kind of walks back those comments like ‘Hey maybe I really wasn’t in the right place of saying’ because he does it too now”, implying that Cena had to eat his own words for doing exactly what he had criticized Johnson for doing all those years ago.

Even though in their recent appearance together on-screen they were seen smiling and hugging each other, their feud, dating back to 2012, had fans on the edge of their seats. With both of them sharing the ring one more time, fans are speculating whether they will square off once again.

The Rock vs. John Cena 3.0?

With the two mega stars being back at the promotion, the question on the tip of every fan’s tongue is, when will they get to see them fight again? The answer to this is that there are no reports or any confirmation as of now. While John Cena is set to appear at Fastlane 2023, there is no news about the whereabouts of The Rock. However, the events which will take place now will certainly have an impact on next year’s WrestleMania 40.

While fans were predicting that Cody Rhodes would go off against Roman Reigns, things are a bit shaken up after The Rock’s return. However, it might be possible for fans to see The Samoan brothers clashing off against each other without affecting The American Nightmare’s road to becoming the new face of WWE. But it is very unlikely that fans will get to see the titans face off against each other.
