Any death is traumatic. But when it comes to losing one of our parents, it hits really hard. The pain doesn’t know how to discriminate between celebrities and laymen, so it drenches anyone’s and everyone’s soul in the same merciless way. WWE superstar Cody Rhodes has gone through this hell of feeling upon losing his father, Dusty Rhodes, back in 2015.
June 11th, 2015 will be marked a cursed day for the Rhodes family and the entire WWE Universe as well. Hall of Famer Dusty Rhodes surrendered to the ultimate destiny called death, surrounded by his family members in a local hospital.
Cody Rhodes didn’t want his father to live longer bearing pain

The ‘American Dream’ had to give up on his unaccomplished WWE dreams in the middle of his journey, at the age of 69. The legendary father of Cody Rhodes battled with stomach cancer at the time of his death, although the official death cause was kidney failure. Dusty didn’t let his family swim in trouble for long. He was breathing just for two days after falling on the floor. His family members, including Cody Rhodes, got aware of the severity of his situation.
In his newly released documentary on Peacock, The American Nightmare, revealed what forced him to wish death for his beloved dad at a certain point in time while he was battling for his life.
An emotional Rhodes went on to say, ”It’s the last memories I have of him. I found out about septicemia and septic shock l. I found out the return rate. Once your body goes into shock like that, the organs start to fail. It’s not a good return rate. And I went from praying he would live to praying he would pass because you know once the nurse tells you he has no quality of life, if you can’t live, you can’t live.”
Holding his tears, Rhodes articulated the most painful truth of his life, ” It’s not like the movies or TV where the thing goes flat, it takes longer. The doctor tells you, no, he’s still alive. It’s just a… I wouldn’t wish it on my worst. It was just two days of sitting there and watching your hero, your favorite person, just die.”
However, for the 38-year-old, his father went nowhere and is still breathing under the wrestling mat.

Anyone who has seen Cody Rhodes wrestling might have seen him doing a bizarre yet thoughtful gesture of kissing the mat, bending down on his knees every time his feet touch the ring. It was a kind of ritual of a son, In other words, a heartfelt tribute to a mentor from his mentee.

Rhodes, 38, has a firm belief that his departed dad continues to live in the ring. So, he gets to feel him more under the squared circle than anywhere else.
