2024 began with a blast for the WWE Universe as Dwayne The Rock Johnson graced Monday Night RAW Day 1 Edition with his presence. No one at the Pechanga Arena in San Diego, California, could have imagined that Johnson would be the returning champion that was advertised ahead of the show. Jinder Mahal coming out first and subverting expectations resulted in Johnson’s return feeling even bigger and better.
The Hollywood star made his first return to the WWE back on September 15. However, there were no plans at that time for the star. Now, it looks like the WWE has something in mind.

Johnson is great on the mic and will continue to even when he’s 80. However, what was evident was his gassed performance while beating up Mahal. After a bit of classic Rock banter with Mahal, The Modern Day Maharaja attacked The People’s Champ, which resulted in The Rock retaliating. However, this exposed Johnson.
As the two began to brawl, which was short, Johnson hit Mahal with a spinebuster. This itself left Johnson out of breath as he set up for The People’s Elbow. While Johnson did move in the ring as he did ten years ago, fans could notice that this brief exchange of blows was enough to leave Johnson gassed.

Had the segment ended there as it did back in September, fans would have nothing to worry about. Unfortunately, before leaving while addressing the San Diego crowd, Johnson called out Roman Reigns. This has been something that fans have been speculating on for months now. Johnson is finally getting involved in The Bloodline’s storyline.

Here is where the question arises: will the Hollywood star be ready for a full-fledged match at a PLE? Looking at Johnson after a short encounter with Mahal proves that he is past his prime. While Johnson’s dedication to the craft will allow him to push himself for a 20-30 minute match, will it be WrestleMania worthy?
Which PLE could see Johnson face Reigns?
Now, when it comes to which PLE could be the home for the highly anticipated Johnson vs. Reigns match, the answer is simple: WrestleMania 40. Then again, as mentioned above, is Johnson ready to perform on the grandest stage of them all?

With what was seen tonight, the answer is a resounding no. However, a match at Elimination Chamber 2024 isn’t off the table. Both men could look great in the match without wasting the WM slot for a one time match.
