In the wrestling industry, there are several promotions across the globe. However, the two that are the most competitive with one another are undoubtedly WWE and AEW. Thus, more often than not their stars are taking direct or indirect digs at their rival.
Over the years, there are uncountable such instances when AEW president Tony Khan has taken a sly jibe at Vince McMahon and WWE. Fans encountered one similar incident, recently, when Khan didn’t hesitate to take a shot at his competitor again with a cheeky reference to their working model.

There’s no denying that with time, the Jacksonville-based wrestling promotion has gained much traction. Its flagship TV show, “Dynamite” has contributed the most to the company’s success. It even became one of the top-rated cable shows on Wednesday night.
One other element that makes AEW stand out is the quality of its matches. However, one more addition to this list is made by its president recently in an interview with LA Times. He pointed out another strength that AEW possesses, which is the authenticity with which each of its wrestlers speaks.
He said, “What’s great about AEW is you hear the wrestlers speaking in their own words and I’m not trying to force the words into their mouths.”
This statement by Khan isn’t just an appreciation of its own promotion, but a taunt to its competitor as well. This might not be as clear in this sentence. But his next claim makes it pretty evident for everyone to understand.
The president of AEW mocks WWE while praising themselves
The following declaration by Tony Khan will take you aback as he unabashedly states how AWE doesn’t provide scripts to its wrestlers like others, adding the promotion has great talkers in pro wrestling.
Khan added, “I don’t write word-for-word scripts for anybody and we have the best talkers in pro wrestling.”
It is well known that WWE and Vince McMahon hand out detailed scripts to its stars which they need to rehearse before giving a promo. Although some of the more established names are given a free hand with their mic work, a large number of wrestlers are expected to follow the written words for their promos in WWE.

There won’t be any confusion now as this mocking statement by Tony Khan is clear enough that he is pointing fingers at his rival promotion. He has done the same previously as well when McMahon returned to WWE.
However, now, it will be interesting to see if anyone from WWE responds to these claims.
