Wrestling superstars may bask in success and fame, but like anyone else, they face their share of personal challenges. Some, however, show remarkable courage by openly sharing their battles. Recently, Roxanne Perez, a former NXT Women’s Champion, and NXT Women’s Tag Team Champion, bravely opened up about her struggles with depression and anxiety. She shed light on a topic that is often overlooked, especially in the world of pro wrestling.

Roxanne Perez tackles mental health head on

Perez has seen numerous victories since making her WWE debut on the April 15 episode of NXT Level Up, where she defeated Sloane Jacobs. Her first NXT appearance was on April 19, when she defeated Jacy JayneAdditionally, she triumphed over Mandy Rose to claim the NXT Women’s Championship. Roxanne Perez triumphantly retained her NXT Women’s Championship against Meiko Satomura at NXT Roadblock in an intense showdown.

Despite her achievements, Perez recently revealed her ongoing struggle with anxiety and depression. She even had a storyline arc along the same lines which wasn’t far from the truth.

During a candid interview with Adam Silverstein on Getting Over, she spoke about her experience, saying, “A lot of people don’t know that was real. It wasn’t just a storyline. I do deal with anxiety. I’ve dealt with depression and continue to; it’s something you try to work around and try to live with and find resources to help you deal with those things.”

She further added, “There is still a stigma around it, and I wanted to kind of break that stigma. Whether it was me suddenly talking about it and making it okay and normal to say, ‘I’m a WWE Superstar, and I deal with anxiety.’ 


Perez’s courageous decision to open up about mental health issues inspires everyone and highlights the importance of addressing such challenges.

Triple H was impressed by Roxanne Perez after SmackDown debut

Triple H and Roxanne Perez have become the talk of the town after Roxanne Perez’s debut performance on SmackDown last year. Making her grand WWE main roster debut on October 14, 2022, Perez joined forces with Raquel Rodriguez and Shotzi to take on Damage CTRL. Though the outcome didn’t swing her way, it was evident that Perez left an indelible mark in the ring.

Reports suggested that WWE higher-ups including Triple H were left impressed by her performance and overwhelmingly positive response from the live audience.

Notably, Perez’s journey began when she started training at Booker T’s wrestling promotion. She was in Reality of Wrestling at 16, making her one of the youngest stars in the company.

As fans eagerly await Roxanne Perez’s future appearances on the main roster, it’s evident that she possesses incredible talent and potential, making her a strong contender to become the next big WWE star.
