Roman Reigns has been WWE’s Universal Champion for close to 1000 days. Although he is announced to be ‘undisputed’, some viewers have clashing opinions about how worthy he is of the title. Kevin Nash also falls under the category of people who questioned Reigns retaining the title at WrestleMania 39. Although he has been defending it for over three years, Nash believes Reigns has not met his match yet.
In his podcast, ‘Kliq This’, Nash put forward his belief that if the main event of WrestleMania 39 had featured this 58-year-old WWE legend, Reigns might have walked home without his Universal Championship belt.

While The Tribal Chief’s fans probably consider him unbeatable, Nash stands on the other end of that belief. The former wrestler introduced the idea of Steve Austin as Reigns’ hypothetical opponent. Where The Tribal Chief has been successfully defending his title reign, Nash strongly believes that this long title reign is not a dynamic decision.
The main event of WrestleMania 39 saw Reigns Cody Rhodes tasting defeat at the hands of The Head of the Table. However, Nash thinks, “If that would’ve been Steve Austin coming to the ring at WrestleMania for the second night, he would’ve beat Roman Reigns.”

Nash thinks that Austin coming in and winning the title would’ve been a far better creative decision. According to him, this would’ve avoided the story arc from being stagnant. Particularly because of how immensely popular Austin has been among WWE fans. So, writers wouldn’t have to think twice before taking the Universal Championship Title from Reigns’ shoulders straight into Austin’s hands.
Whatever might have been the result of the debatable hypothetical match, this isn’t the first time that Reigns has been framed inside the ring with a WWE legend.
Another WWE legend talked about facing Roman Reigns
WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair once talked about his desire to fight a ‘special’ wrestler from the current active roster. That ‘special’ wrestler was none other than Roman Reigns. Although it is highly unlikely for Reigns to wrestle with The Nature Boy, fans shouldn’t be too sure about Austin either.

Although ‘Stone Cold’ came back from his retirement to have one more match last year, it looks unlikely we will see him action again and especially against Reigns. Austin’s mention should rather be considered as a fiery shot at WWE for failing to trust Rhodes as a big star and hand him the win at WrestleMania 39.
