Fans could agree that at the end of the day, pro wrestling is show business. There are a few instances when things get out of hand. Sometimes some promotions have a comment on their stars. And sometimes their stars have something to say about the company. While CM Punk is notoriously famous for it due to the 2022 Brawl Out, another star might soon join him in reputation. The star in question is Matt Riddle.

Matt Riddle was released by WWE in September 2023. While the promotion stated that it was a part of the budget cuts following the TKO merger, The King of Bros has something to say about WWE’s management.

What Matt Riddle has to say about WWE

Talking to Fox News, Riddle reflected upon his time at WWE. When asked whether he has any hard feelings for WWE, the star replied with a candid no. He then added that he had the best time of his life at the promotion. Riddle said, “I loved every second of it. I was a multiple-time tag-team champion with Randy [Orton], I was an NXT tag-team champion.” He further added how he still cherishes the moments like beating Bobby Lashley for the United States Championship and being a part of multiple WrestleMania and Royal Rumble PLEs.

However, there is something about WWE that he is not particularly fond of. The former UFC star added, “WWE, unfortunately, if a situation happens, and they don’t like the perception, they make their decision.” According to Riddle no matter what the situation is, if someone has done the right thing, or the wrong thing, or “in-between”, the decision will be based on how they’re perceived.

Before Riddle was released from WWE, he was written off television for some time. The reason behind this was the star’s alleged involvement in a few controversies. Due to this, many believe he did not receive a ceremonious farewell despite being a fan favorite.

While Riddle might be feeling bad about WWE’s decision, he shared his thoughts on the bigger picture.

Talking about his experience at WWE, Riddle added, “I would just say, with WWE, they run a ship, they run it a certain way.” He then added that if something is functioning at such a big magnitude, the actions of the people involved are closely monitored. Hence, most of the time the decision might not be in the favor of the star.

While he admitted that he does not have any hard feelings for the company, he believes that the promotion might have some hard feelings against him.
