Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has shocked fans once again after his ceremonious return to WWE at Raw Day 1 on January 1, 2024. After bantering with Jinder Mahal in the ring, Johnson hyped his fans up with his mic skills. While fans thought it was nothing but a guest appearance, the 51-year-old star declared that he was here to stay.

He did so in his iconic style by calling out his brother and WWE’s current undisputed champion Roman Reigns. This has sparked the flame of a potential WrestleMania 40 match between the two members of the Anoa’i clan. Since it is a match fans have wanted for years, WWE legend Booker T believes that it might be the best route for WWE.

On the recent episode of his podcast, Hall of Fame with Booker T and Brad Gilmore, the Hall of Famer shared his thoughts on The Brahma Bull‘s return and a potential WrestleMania 40 main event match between Johnson and Reigns. “It’s got a buzz. Everybody talking about it. I think that’s the modus operandi. I think that’s what that is, more than anything.” T believes that it might be the best decision by WWE due to a variety of reasons.

He believes that it is the right time for both Johnson and Reigns to face off against each other. “For me, you don’t want to let that thing simmer too long.” He further added that the Tribal Chief is at the height of his career and this might be the highest he could reach. “Roman’s in his prime, at the height of his title reign. It’s not gonna get any higher than this.”

Now that Johnson has some time off to dedicate to the promotion, WWE might need to “pull the trigger” while they still have the opportunity to do so. In other words, fans could assume that if not executed properly, this would be a missed opportunity according to Booker T.

However, there is one problem with this booking. Fans still remember that there is someone who wants to ‘finish his story.’ The Hall of Famer further added how Cody Rhodes might fit into this equation.

Will Dwayne Johnson’s return affect Cody Rhodes?

After his devastating defeat at WrestleMania 39, fans have been expecting Rhodes to challenge Roman Reigns again at WrestleMania 40. However, T believes that Johnson’s return might have a huge impact on Rhodes’s story. He stated, “I don’t know what’s gonna happen with Cody, but I do know if The Rock has got some time off, this may be a window.” He further added that while this might be ideal for business, the cards are always subject to change.

T also believes that a match at Elimination Chamber might be on the cards for the two Samoan wrestlers. While he believes that WrestleMania might be an ideal setting for the behemoths to clash, he still feels that everything is subjective, and fans might get to experience it in Perth, Australia where the 2024 Elimination Chamber is set to happen. It looks like fans will have to wait till tonight when Roman Reigns will return on SmackDown to see how things will move ahead. Do you think the fight between Dwayne Johnson and Roman Reigns will be the main event at WrestleMania 40?
