While speaking on episode 293 of Jim Cornette’s Drive-Thru podcast, Cornette expressed his concern about how the match ended. He mentioned that Lesnar busting himself open during the match could have cost him his career. A wrong head-first landing on the turnbuckle could have gotten him gravely injured.

He confessed he had been in a similar situation once, so he knows the risks and threats such incidents possess. He said, “I speak from experience. 21 stitches from Bill Dundee one night in Memphis. The doctor said, ‘Yeah, your cheekbone cut from the inside out. [He] said put an eight underneath and 13 on top or whatever.”

“But if you go at it, the worst thing you’re gonna do is you’re gonna gouge yourself open in your forehead from that f***ing edge of that screw,” he added. He thinks that if WWE planned the whole incident, then they should remove the ban on using blades going forward.

This would cut down an enormous risk where a wrestler could potentially get hurt while performing a risky move inside the ring.
