WWE can make and break wrestlers. While some adjust to the hardships of the place and continue grinding, others value their own morals and principles and leave the place. Popular wrestler Eric Young left the WWE, after asking for his release back in April 2023.
According to Fightful, Young has stated his reasons to leave the place. He said: “I was under contract at the other place. I signed up for one thing and it turned into something completely different.”
Shockingly, the former superstar also exclaimed: “Personally, professionally, and more importantly for me, morally, I just couldn’t work there anymore.”
Even though he acknowledged that it was a dream come true for him, he still didn’t want to work under Vince McMahon. He quoted: “It was a dream come true, going back, the contract was fantastic and all this other stuff, and what I was poised to do on the TV show was excellent, but in the end, I would have had to answer to somebody that I’m just not willing to do.”

This is really heartbreaking for his fans as they wanted Young to bring something fresh to the table and play a part in churning out excellent storylines. However, he knew that post the merger between WWE and UFC, the company would run under Vince McMahon, which Young wasn’t comfortable in.
Therefore, after completing his non-compete clause for 90 days, he left the place to make an impact at Impact Wrestling. But did Young truly endure a tumultuous spell at WWE? Let’s explore below.
Young’s failed stint under Vince McMahon?
Even though Young was hopeful to work under Triple H, it never came to fruition. Seeing his poor treatment during his run between 2016-2020, the wrestler became bitter towards the chairman of the board.
After having made a promising debut against the Usos back in 2018 on SmackDown, the leader of the popular faction, SAnitY, would have hoped for an upscale. But with poor bookings, the now-Impact wrestler kept failing to grab eyeballs.

Fans clamored for a better run after he resigned with WWE back in December. However, he mostly remained sidelined by just working behind the scenes with the creative and never appearing on the main roster.
We wish that he at least shines at Impact Wrestling after making a thunderous return at Slammiversary to team up with Scott D’Amore.
