Academics is an aspect of life where people learn a lot. Some people excel in it, while some don’t. It certainly isn’t a marker of your ability to survive or succeed in the world. Some of the most popular and rich people in the world have taken a completely different path after finishing their college degrees. One of the best examples of that is WWE icon John Cena.

The Hollywood star starring in some big-budget movies didn’t pursue education after his degree, and there’s a reason for it. Recently, Cena opened up about it on the Hart to Heart show.

On the Hart to Heart show, hosted by comedian Kevin Hart, Cena talked about his path to success. Having come from nothing, Cena made a big impact on WWE and now is thriving in the movie industry. When Hart asked about how did WWE end up happening for Cena, the 16-time world champion delved into his college life and the way academics failed him.

He said, “I failed my degree. I couldn’t get any validation for that piece of paper that I paid for. That four-year certificate from Springfield College saying we think you know what’re you talking about and then I go out and try to well, I got this, I don’t give a sh*t. At 19 years of age, Cena was a limousine driver. People who might have hired him to drive their limos might have had a shock seeing their driver on billboards all around America. The way he got into wrestling is also through another job where he used to work as a gym trainer. If Cena would have never taken that job, he wouldn’t have opened the gates of pro wrestling for him.

But one job that was the original plan for Cena was joining the Marine Corps. While joining wrestling was a fluke, his original choice of occupation had always been to serve the country.
