After having a fabulous run as a heel along with The Judgement Day, Dominik Mysterio took his talents to the NXT, where he won his first singles belt, the NXT North American Championship. Since then, he has defended his title against Butch, Wes Lee and Dragon Lee.

However, another foe has re-emerged for Mysterio after the recent episode of NXT on September 5th. The new contender wants to face Dominik Mysterio in a one-on-one match at NXT No Mercy, which will take place on September 30th at Mechanics Bank Arena, Bakersfield, California.

Number one contender wants to face Dominik Mysterio ‘One-on-One’ at No Mercy

WWE Superstar  Mustafa Ali (Adeel Alam) took to X on September 5 to issue a challenge for the NXT North American title. Dominik Mysterio will now face Mustafa Ali as Ali became the no.1 contender for the Championship after his win over Dragon Lee on the September 5th episode of NXT.

Ali tweeted from his official account, “I’m the number one contender for the North American title. I have been for months. I earned that spot AGAIN tonight on #WWENXT. I want my one-on-one match for that title at #NXTNoMercy.”

Ali was referring to the feud between the two main roster superstars that has been going on since Dominik became the NXT North American Champion on July 18th after defeating former Champion Wes Lee. Their previous match was a triple-threat match where Dominik retained his title after pinning Wes Lee.

Since Ali was not the one to be pinned, he felt that he never lost his opportunity. Although he has demanded his title match again and again, but was denied by Mysterio. Hence, after winning another opportunity, Ali was specific about having a one-on-one match against Mysterio.  

What is going on Dominik Mysterio’s mind for Mustafa Ali?

In a high-stakes match for a Championship opportunity, the high-flyer Dragon Lee had an edge over Ali. But the special guest referee for the match, Dirty Dom had other ideas in mind. Playing to his heel antics, Mysterio’s slow counts dearly cost the match to Dragon Lee.

During the fag end of the match, Dom Dom slow-counted the pinfall from Dragon Lee before a surprise roll-up from Ali and a quick count by Mysterio. Mysterio even lifted Ali’s hands while declaring the winner, however, Ali dropped him with a lariat.
