WWE legend Jim Ross is currently under a contract with AEW where he works as a commentator and senior advisor. He has been on hiatus for a month to recover from a leg wound that he sustained during his fight against skin cancer.
Fans were hoping for his quick recovery and sooner return but the latest news on the same is somewhat disappointing. ‘JR’ revealed last month that he would be taking some time off to heal properly. But a recent update from the WWE legend has put the fans in a state of worry as his hiatus might get prolonged.

Ross is diabetic and diabetes causes wounds to heal more slowly, thus increasing the risk of infections. This is why it is taking a long time for his injured leg to heal. The WWE legend in his Grilling JR podcast revealed that his blood sugar is affecting the healing of his leg. Therefore, he is planning to get an MRI to get an idea of the exact status of his injured limb.
He said, “I’m getting an MRI next week to make sure that there’s no damage to the bone in my leg, just as a precaution. You know, I don’t want to deal with bone cancer, for God’s sake. We’re pretty sure that ain’t gonna be the case. So we’ll get an MRI next week just to bring that to a close.”

He also revealed that two weeks ago, his blood sugar had hiked to a detrimental level. Fortunately, the medicines doctors have prescribed him are doing their job and his blood sugar levels are under control now. However, given his medical condition, it is difficult to predict when he will return to AEW and how the injury will affect his future in the promotion.
Ross is not worried about his AEW future
In the same Episode 244: Armageddon 2003 of Grilling JR, the 71-year-old star also revealed that he has no idea what the future holds for him. His injury has made his future at the Jacksonville-based promotion very unpredictable. But it doesn’t bother him at all.
