“I Don’t Make the Calls”: Brock Lesnar Shoots On Not Being Able to Have His ‘Dream Match’ At WrestleMania

Brock Lesnar has been in WWE for a very long time. He has gone through a lot of legends and stars in his time. Everyone from The Rock to Hulk Hogan to The Undertaker to John Cena lay defeated when the Beast Incarnate had a match with them. As such there may not be many dream matches left for him as he has faced some of the biggest names across different eras. But there is one that many wanted, but it couldn’t happen this time.

For WrestleMania 39, many fans wanted to see Lesnar face the Intercontinental Champion, Gunther. Seeing their chemistry, just through a chance encounter at the Royal Rumble, got fans overly excited.

Brock Lesnar reveals his helplessness in making a ‘dream match’ come true

Sitting down with Daniel Cormier for an interview before his WrestleMania bout with Omos revealed a lot of things about Lesnar. In the interview, he talked about the journey leading him to wrestle, his first WWE contract back in 2000, and even the moment he felt that it was time to leave the company in 2002. But it was the conversation about having a feud with Omos, which got a lot caught a lot of attention.

Cormier pointed out that this feud with Omos came out of nowhere. Lesnar said he looked forward to the challenge of The Nigerian Giant and liked the match when it was proposed to him. Then, he asked the Beast Incarnate about the potential match with Gunther, which many wanted to happen, and if he looked forward to facing him.

Lesnar replied, “I do. It was just proposed and I don’t know, I don’t make the calls around here. It’s just one of those things when this was proposed to me. I liked it because I liked the challenge and I like the match-up.”

While many think, due to Lesnar’s star power, that Lesnar always has a say in the booking of his character, that might not be true. While Lesnar was ready to face Omos, he also liked the idea of having a one-on-one match with Gunther, something that fans have wanted ever since Royal Rumble.

When Lesnar entered the Rumble this year, Gunther was already in the ring. On seeing The Beast Incarnate, the Ring General moved all his attention to the man throwing everyone else in the ring. The two men stared each other down and the crowd went crazy, shouting their lungs out.

After that encounter, fans have expressed their excitement to see Lesnar and Gunther fight it out in the ring in the future. Even the champion himself talked about this in an interview previously.

After Lesnar overcame Omos at WrestleMania, a feud with GUNTHER may not be that far off.
