“I Don’t Give a Sh**”: Konnan Went Against Triple H and WWE to Give His “Boy” Rey Mysterio His Dues at the Hall of Fame Ceremony

One of the most heartwarming moments of last weekend’s Hall of Fame was Rey Mysterio’s induction. The Master of the 619 is one of the most beloved wrestlers among the fans. While being away from WWE for a few years, Rey Mysterio didn’t fumble with his fanbase. So, it was an amazing moment for the former WWE champion, when WWE honored his legacy.

WWE enhanced this special moment when Mysterio’s best friend, Konnan, came out to induct the legend. But what we didn’t know about was the way Konnan snatched the deserving time to introduce his friend.

Konnan details his experience of giving a speech for Rey Mysterio at the Hall of Fame 2023

On his podcast, Keepin’ it 100, Konnan talked about everything related to his Hall of Fame weekend. He talked about getting there, talking to Mysterio, and enjoying the event. One thing that Konnan detailed about was his introduction speech for his dear friend. He added that WWE had given him a speech writer to work with, and Konnan admired the guy a lot.

But when his speech was ready, it came out to be seven minutes long, but WWE refused it and said that they only had three minutes for Konnan’s speech. This angered the former WCW star, and he demanded more time.

Then Konnan narrated, “So the guy goes, ‘Well, let me see if I can get you five’, and I was thinking to myself, ‘Alright, give me five because I’m gonna take seven.’ Here’s my thing. If I was gonna get heat, I get heat. I don’t give a sh*t. I’m gonna properly introduce my boy.” And there is no one who can deny that Konnan’s speech was anything but perfect.

Konnan and Rey Mysterio’s friendship goes deeper

While we all remember Eddie Guerrero and Rey Mysterio being best friends behind the scenes, there was another Mexican wrestler who was majorly influential in The Biggest Little Man’s career.

The one who first saw Mysterio’s talent in 1996 and brought him to WCW’s roster was Konnan. If Konnan didn’t bring Mysterio to America at that time, fans may have missed out on seeing one of the biggest legends in the industry.

Even at this moment, Konnan still sings praises of his best friend, Mysterio. When everyone thought that Rey Mysterio and Dominik Mysterio took their storyline in wrestling to real-life, Konnan praised both of them as being able to uphold kayfabe in the modern world.
