The former WWE commentator etched his name in wrestling history through memorable appearances. They shared WWE television moments filled with hilarious insults. However, in a recent interview, the ex-presenter vows never to return. 

Nicknamed “The Coach,” this American sports analyst gained fame for his tenure with WWE and XFL as a former professional wrestling personality. It’s none other than Jonathan Coachman. Recently, he has declared he’ll never return to the wrestling ring.

Jonathan Coachman on closing the chapter on wrestling, reflecting on WWE days

Jonathan Coachman, known for his comical segments with The Rock, has declared he’s closing the book on his wrestling chapter. His on-screen banter with The Rock was pure entertainment and Coachman was a part of some truly memorable WWE moments.

Coachman, who joined WWE in 1999, had multiple roles within the company and even made a comeback in 2018. But he hasn’t been seen since September that year. In an interview with Insight with Chris Van Vliet, Coachman firmly stated that his WWE days are behind him. 

He said, “I think back now, I’m kind of in that reflective point of my life. Because I know, for a fact, that my wrestling career is over. There is nothing that can make me go back and do that so now you get into a reflective state. That’s not who I aspire to be. I got lucky. And then there are things that have happened over the past five years that make me not want to go back.”

He believes the company doesn’t need him, and he’s content with his current endeavors outside the ring.

He also added, “ I was 100% loyal to that company and to Vince so when things happen, sometimes you’ve got to draw the line in the sand and say ‘I can’t be treated that way and still go back and be loyal to the company. It’s not like they need me anyway. They’re not crying over spilt milk. But I like to think I treat people a certain way and, I wanted to be treated that way. So yeah, I would never go back.”

Coachman’s decision to stay away from WWE has sparked curiosity. In 2021, The Coach pulled back the curtain on his time working alongside McMahon. He drops a bombshell accusation about the billionaire.

Coachman’s unsettled debt with XFL: a rocky resolution ahead

Jonathan Coachman declared on his ‘Ask Coach Anything’ Patreon show on September 9, 2021. He highlighted unresolved financial issues—reportedly between $8,000 and $20,000—stemming from expenses incurred during his assistance to Vince McMahon’s XFL venture.

Due to this, he stated that he wouldn’t consider collaborating with McMahon in the future. Despite attempts, Coachman indicated WWE cited the XFL as a separate entity, denying responsibility for the owed sum.

Curiously, the XFL, once owned by McMahon, was purchased by Dwayne Johnson and Dany Garcia. They recently marked the successful completion of the XFL’s relaunched season. Coachman could potentially seek repayment from The Rock due to their WWE history, potentially creating more iconic moments, and exciting fans.
