‘Fate’ is a tricky thing. People don’t often end up in life where they plan to do so. However, one should try to go with the flow of life because we aren’t always in charge of all our situations. Hulk Hogan‘s professional life is also a good example where his ‘fate’ intervened with his already planned career. Shockingly enough, the WWE Hall of Famer almost became an MLB star.

Not a lot of Hogan’s fans know about the fact that he had tried a career in MLB before turning to wrestling as a career. You probably wouldn’t have rightly guessed the reason behind this major shift in his career orientation.

Hollywood Hogan was a “big” kid during his high school days. He was on the baseball team and had played on the infield with much interest. In a recent episode of the ‘Full Send Podcast’, Hogan revealed how an injury prevented his potential MLB drafting, “I was scouted in 10th and 11th grade by the Cincinnati Reds and New York Yankees, but I broke my arm.

He further explained the story of the onset of the injury. “I pitched and played third base and a guy stepped outside the box and he hit the ball on the handle. It dribbled down the third baseline. The bases were loaded. We all came up on the infield. And as the ball dribbled down the third baseline, I picked it up and I threw it under-handed at first base and I broke that cap off my elbow, just by throwing the ball off balance,” revealed Hogan. He also recalled how he had “an overhand fastball and an overhand drop ball that nobody could hit.

All of Hogan’s talent was rendered useless when the wrestler met with the injury. Soon after, medical experts treated his arm well. But the team placed Hogan on the outfield, where he lost his interest in the game. Hogan then left this career-altering injury behind. However, the ‘injuries’ did not leave him alone.
