In 2019, it was revealed that WWE legend John Cena would join the $6.6 billion Warner Bros. franchise Fast & Furious. Since his inclusion, Cena has played a pretty significant role as the brother to Vin Diesel’s character, Dominic Toretto. Diesel’s character has been one of the major characters since the beginning of the franchise which has a legacy of over two decades, so adding more depth to his backstory was just what the character needed.

For a franchise as big as this, more star power has been added to the team as action stars like Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham joined the group. John Cena’s inclusion added more of a fan following but how does Cena fit into the role?

The movie follows a simple plot revolving around Dom’s past as well as his efforts to stop a plot orchestrated by his younger brother. In 1989, Jack Toretto dies in a race, leading to Dom’s arrest for assaulting a rival. Thirty years later, Dom retired and raised his son. The team learns that a cyberterrorist has been abducted, and Dom discovers his brother Jakob is involved. Jakob, allied with Otto, steals Project Aries, a hacking device.

The team, along with Mia and Letty, races to stop the device’s activation. Jakob is revealed to be manipulated by their father, and Dom forgives him. In a mid-credit scene, Deckard encounters Han. Brian O’Conner’s car arrives, teasing a comeback.
