“How Do You Stay Married?”: Being Divorced 4 Times in the Last 40 Years, Ric Flair Comes Clean on His Relationship Problems

WWE has been in the business for almost 4 decades now. And in order to cater to its fans all over North America, it has been traveling to conduct shows in various states. And sometimes, even in countries outside the States like ‘Night Of Champions’ in Saudi Arabia and ‘MITB’ in London, England.

To make all this possible, WWE wrestlers have to keep traveling throughout the year. In the process, they end up spending very little to no time with their loved ones. And Ric Flair just revealed that his marriage suffered the brunt of its problems because of this constant traveling.

Ric Flair had 4 divorces because of his hectic wrestling schedule

‘The Nature Boy’ Ric Flair has been in the wrestling business since 1972. Ever since then, he has just been wrestling and traveling nonstop for almost 40 years now.

He has been with multiple wrestling promotions but spent a major portion of his wrestling career with the WWE.

Around the same time in 1971, he had his first marriage with Leslie Goodman which lasted a good 12 years. Post that he went on to have 3 more marriages but sadly all ended in divorce with the last one ending in 2014. From the outside, it would seem that Flair has commitment problems but he addressed this issue recently on a podcast.

He attributed his 4 divorces to his hectic wrestling schedule, which barely gave him any time to go back home to his wife and family. On his recent appearance on the podcast ‘This Past Weekend’, he said, “Oh yeah I’ve had problems with that, with relationships, ive been married 4 times. But a lot of that is in respect to my travel. God, I wrestled an average of 400 days a year, 400 times, because twice on saturday, twice on sunday for 10 years…. I did that for 10 years, you never home, how do you stay married? Some women just can’t live like that.”

And it makes perfect sense, even today you see RAW and Smackdown happening every week in different cities. It isn’t physically or financially viable for the wrestlers to keep flying to visit their families every week. So they just end up being on the road for a long time. And eventually, meet their family if a show happens in their hometown.

But going back to Flair, post-retirement, he finally seemed to have found a loving companion.

Flair finally found true love in Wendy Barlow but they split in 2022

Ric Flair met Wendy Barlow almost 30 years ago in 1993 when the two worked at WCW. She would accompany Flair to the ring with the ring name ‘Fifi’. The pair started dating immediately after Flair’s divorce from his 4th wife in 2014.

They then got engaged in 2016 and in 2018 had a grand wedding reception in Florida. But just after 4 years of being together, the couple split in 2022 announcing that they were never officially married.

Flair even took to Instagram to issue a statement saying, “have decided to go our separate ways.” This thus becomes Flair’s 5th unsuccessful attempt at marriage. But do you guys think that Ric Flair has commitment problems?
