WWE has undergone a monumental shift in dynamics following the merger. As they have created history by combining with the UFC to make a $21.4 billion empire, fans can’t wait to see what the future holds for WWE superstars moving forward. Amidst all the coverage of the merger, Nick Khan, WWE President, has heaped praise on one of its superstars, the global megastar John Cena.

Recently, on a podcast, Khan explained why WWE will never produce another John Cena, secretly praising another star as well, and surprisingly it’s not Roman Reigns

After changing the landscape on the 12th of September, fans all around the world are awaiting the new era to unfold.

With so many players involved in the merger and their importance, people around the world have taken notice of Nick Khan. After being the CEO for so many years, Khan has now taken charge as WWE President.

Now, during an interview with The Bills Simmons Podcast, the President shed light on his thoughts on John Cena.

He quoted: “You get a John Cena, and part of the fun is that we just need to find the next John Cena. There is no next John Cena.”  This statement comes to the surface with his intention of explaining that one can never produce the same entity again. However, he also expressed how WWE will create more big stars, regardless.

Giving a surprise mention of LA Knight, he quoted: “Hey, this is our next so and so.’ I’ve never seen it work. LA Knight is the first LA Knight, and that’s part of why we think that he’s resonating.”

This perfectly makes sense as it’s extremely difficult for anyone to replicate what Cena has done for WWE. The ideology gets merit as WWE once tried to push Roman Reigns to the level of Cena, but he failed. It took Reigns years before he identified his true self and turned heel to find the gimmick of the Tribal Chief, which ultimately led to his rule at the top.

However, it’s intriguing to see him mention Knight and not Reigns as a comparison to Cena. Nonetheless, while Khan heaped praise on Cena and Knight, he recently also shared his quick take on CM Punk.

Khan professed his admiration for CM Punk

With Punk’s temporary farewell to wrestling, fans have been hoping to catch a glimpse of Punk once again in WWE after his infamous exit in 2014.

Though it’s not certain if that’ll ever take place, Khan gave his candid opinion on Punk. Khan, in an interview with ESPN’s Mark Raimondi, acknowledged his contributions. Neither confirming nor denying his return to WWE, Khan said: “Listen, we only have respect for Phil,”

While fans can’t predict Punk’s return, they certainly are happy to see Cena getting his due acknowledgment after dominating the scene for decades. This gets backed by his merchandise sales ever since his return, proving why he still has the leverage and fan base to compete with the top superstars in WWE.
