Over the past few years, WWE fans have had the treat of watching their favorite wrestlers grace the silver screen as superheroes. Right from Dwayne Johnson in Black Adam to Batista in Guardians of the Galaxy, these superstars are providing entertainment to their fans on the big screen. The latest addition to this list was John Cena who played the anti-hero Peacemaker in the Suicide Squad movie and then got a spinoff show based on his character.

James Gunn, head of DC Films and director of blockbusters like Guardians of the Galaxy and Suicide Squad confirmed that season 2 of Peacemaker is coming soon.

When will Peacemaker’s production begin?

James Gunn is currently working on Superman: Legacy slated to release on 11th July 2025. But confirmed on the podcast Inside of You with Michael Rosenbaum that he will start work on Peacemaker immediately.

Gunn said, “Peacemaker’s coming back right after Superman. That’s my next thing,” while also adding that he wouldn’t be taking any break in between the projects, “Yeah, [I] go straight from Superman to Peacemaker.”

Reason for Delay in Seth Rollins MCU debut

But as DC is eager to sink its teeth into one WWE superstar show, rival studio Marvel is delaying Seth “Freakin” Rollins MCU debut in Captain America: Brave New World. That’s because the initial release date of May 3, 2024, is now given to Ryan Reynolds starrer Deadpool 3.

The release date for the fourth Captain America film is pushed back to July 26, 2024. News about Rollins being part of the Captain America franchise came out in May when pictures of him in costume on set leaked on Twitter and Instagram.

John Cena was praised widely for his performance of the character in season 1 which revolves around a guy named Christopher Smith who calls himself the Peacemaker. With the acclaim that the show received for season one, a lot of pressure falls on the shoulders of the cast and more so John Cena himself to make season two even more noteworthy.
