Seeing Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson walking out in a Versace top, jewelry, and dark glasses could mean that Hollywood heel Rock is here. This is exactly what the crowd in Salt Lake City, Utah, witnessed on the last episode of SmackDown. Not only was his drip on point for his new heel persona, but there were shards of the first time Johnson went heel in the WWE. While Cody Rhodes was not spared once Johnson got on the mic, the fans in attendance were also treated to The Rock’s insults.

Heel Dwayne Johnson talks about getting chills in Salt Lake City

However, taking to social media a day after the show, the Hollywood star broke character. After calling the crowd things no mother would like to hear, he thanked them for being there. This out-of-character moment came from a post-Johnson uploaded to X. The Rock wrote, “He’s back. Greatness sins. Devil disrupts. Always speaks the truth. Even when he lies. Record setting crowd. Thank you SALT LAKE CITY. Mana. Energy. Eruption. Chills. ~ people’s champ”

The whole thing feels cryptic, and the “Thank you,” at the end is not what a real heel would say even today. Did Johnson break kayfabe, or is there something larger at play? In the episode, Roman Reigns announced that Johnson was now an official member of The Bloodline. After getting this honour, The Rock claimed that he would do all he could to ensure Reigns walked out of WrestleMania as the champ.

During the promo, The Rock wasted no time to insult the crowd present. The boos were loud but could not hide the fact that fans were excited to see the old heel Rock. Johnson even made fun of Rhodes’ incomplete story and made a flawed comparison. This was something that was called out online. With Mania just a few months away, fans are excited to see where this story goes.

Could Dwayne Johnson face Cody Rhodes in a match?

While Johnson has proved he’s in great shape, his in-ring ability isn’t as good as it used to be. During the Day #1 Edition of RAW, when he confronted Jinder Mahal, it was clear he was gassed. While a match between The Rock and Rhodes doesn’t seem to be something that will happen soon, the two have made it clear they wanna have a face-off.
