Cody Rhodes is looking towards WrestleMania 40 for a big win. Since his loss at the hands of Roman Reigns and The Bloodline at WrestleMania 39, he’s been looking for redemption. However, his plans may not fall into place thanks to Dwayne Johnson, who could take Rhodes’ spot during the main event.

WrestleMania 40 is to take place at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 2024. Despite murmurs of Rhodes losing his spot, he declared that he did not worry about his prospects at WrestleMania.

Since his return to the WWE at WrestleMania 38, Cody Rhodes has gotten a massive push. The former AEW star has undergone a gigantic push on his return and has been involved in multiple big storylines. However, the one that he wants to conclude is his story and that has always eluded him. This upcoming WrestleMania 40 might be his chance to seal the deal and add a conclusion finally, but there is a Rock in the way.

Taking on the Busted Open Podcast with Dave LaGreca, Mark Henry, and Mickie James, Rhodes was asked about The Rock taking his spot at WrestleMania 40. Since Johnson returned to SmackDown due to the writer’s strike in Hollywood, fans have been speculating about his involvement with the WWE going forward.

While the number one speculation is that he will be involved in The Bloodline storyline with Reigns, the WWE has yet to build towards it. Talking about WrestleMania 40, Rhodes said, “I’m not flinching, and I feel like if The Rock and I were in the same room, he’d expect nothing less from me.” This was in response to what if The Rock were to take his spot in the main event of WM 40.

The 2023 Royal Rumble winner went on to explain that he did not mind if The Rock took his spot. Rhodes added, “If The Rock is part of WrestleMania 40, that would be outstanding. He should be. It’s The Rock.” This showcased his respect for The Great One. However, the former AEW star concluded by saying, “But I don’t think he’ll be in my spot.”

Nevertheless, how could WWE present a storyline involving Rhodes and Johnson going into WrestleMania?

Rhodes could close his story with some help

The main speculation surrounding The Rock’s involvement with The Bloodline has been that he will help someone overthrow Reigns. As Johnson is not a full-timer, he will not drop the WWE Universal Championship to him.

However, at WrestleMania 40, the Hollywood star could help someone like Rhodes finally put an end to Reigns’ reign as the champion and the Head of the Table. Despite all the speculations, the WWE has yet to confirm anything regarding The Rock and WrestleMania 40.
