Virgil, whose real name was Michael Jones, passed away after a long illness. Michael Jones was Virgil’s real name. He is best known for wrestling in World Wrestling Entertainment in the 1980s and 1990s. 

Referee Mark Charles III was the first person to report Virgil’s sad death. He said that he died quietly in a hospital on Wednesday. They found out the star had dementia and two strokes in 2022. 

Virgil dies after a tough fight with a medical condition

Virgil, whose real name was Michael Jones, died after a long fight with health issues. In the last two years, the WWE star had two strokes and was diagnosed with dementia.

Mark Charles III revealed that the wrestling legend who worked with Million Dollar Man Ted DiBiase in the 1980s was dead. Charles III had been caring for the star for the past few years.

Mark revealed that the “liked” Virgil, whose real name was Michael Jones and who worked in WWE for eight years, most notably as Ted DiBiase’s valet, had died.

The statement stated, “My dear friends, it is with great sorrow that I bring news from the Jones family of the passing of our beloved Michael Jones, whom we know and loved as Virgil, Vincent, Soul Train Jones, and more.

“Virgil passed peacefully at the hospital this morning and I ask that you pray for him and love his family. May his memory be eternal!” The former WWE star had been sick a lot in the past few years.

Virgil was already known to have dementia, and in 2022 he had two small strokes. Fans recently paid tribute to Virgil, with one writing, “I hope that autograph line in the great beyond is around the block for you, brother.” Someone else said that Virgil was a “pioneer who went through hell to open the way.”

After hearing about his health problem, Virgil went on Instagram to say that he had been “trying to survive.” “Something wasn’t right,” he wrote. 

My heart, my head, and my arm. When I came back from Dallas I ended up going to the Doctor and they discovered a whole bunch of issues.

“For starters- without me knowing, over the past few months the Doctor had identified that I suffered 2 massive strokes. Like I didn’t even have a clue till I started not working with 1 of my arms. It’s not able to do anything. 

Before he joined the company, he was The Million Dollar Man Ted DiBiase’s bodyguard. DiBiase was one of the most evil characters in the company’s history.

Virgil changed his name to Vincent while he was at WCW to honor former WWE boss Vince McMahon. He used his real name, Virgil Runnells, in WWE as a joke against Dusty Rhodes, a WCW boss and star.
