Days before the biggest event, Cody Rhodes appeared in a one-to-one conversation with Jimmy Trania in his SI Media podcast. The number one contender for the Undisputed Universal Championship reflected on how Triple H used to keep an eye on him even when he used to wrestle under the rival promotion. ‘When I won the Ring of Honor World Championship, I hadn’t spoken to [Triple H] since I left, and I just got a one-word text from him that said ‘congrats.’ This is a Ring of Honor show, ends at 1 AM, essentially. Working here, there are a bazillion shows and things you’re doing. I was glad I found out later. He watched every bit of it. He kept tabs on me. He has his finger on the pulse of what the young fans and the young roster is into.’, the star noted.

He also spoke about a wide range of topics, including how he wants WWE to feature his notorious throne-breaking segment. Detailing his wish, Rhodes noted, ‘‘It’s not mentioned.” He added he would love for it to be mentioned and that he still has the broken throne at his Nightmare Factory. He has been in the WWE warehouse which houses the ‘actual’ throne and wants the story about it to be used in a show someday.

During another interview, the former AEW star also talked about a misstep in his run with the Tony Khan-led promotion.

Cody Rhodes’ biggest regret during the AEW run

Cody Rhodes left AEW because of his childhood dream of winning the coveted WWE Championship title. Hence, it was a kind of mutual partition. But still, he is not happy with some of the things he did there. Rhodes played the dual role of a performer and a coach in AEW. He recently acknowledged his mistake of not putting more attention on his bookings than on his role as a coach.

During an interview, the star noted,” I was letting some of them beat me long before they should ever beat me. I wanted them to succeed, and I still do, but it wasn’t time for me to be a coach. It was time for me to be a player.”
