Cm Punk, a polarizing figure in the professional wrestling industry, departed from WWE in 2014 and ventured into mixed martial arts and acting. He joined AEW in 2021 and quickly emerged as one of the leading performers on the roster.

However, after indulging in a media scrum, Punk found himself in trouble last year. He had called out certain AEW wrestlers during the scrum, and it started an all-out brawl backstage. Punk suffered an injury setback soon after that has forced him out of action due to the need for surgery.
