‘He Didn’t Disappoint Them, We Did’: Paul Heyman Believes Roman Reigns Did Cody Rhodes a Huge Favor at WrestleMania 39

It’s almost a week since WrestleMania 39 took place and WWE Universe witnessed the massive turn of events happening at the main event. Even it came out through fans’ reactions that they believe it to be Triple H’s master plan to plot Cody Rhodes’ downfall. However, no one knows the reality. But there’s Paul Heyman who has an entirely different take on this.

Being in the business for such a long time, Heyman has gathered a significant understanding of it. Everyone recognizes him as The Wiseman because of his deep knowledge when it comes to the wrestling business. So, that means he might be correct with his theory about Rhodes’ storyline and why he lost to Roman Reigns.

Speaking on BT Sport to popular journalist Ariel Helwani, The Special Counsel to the Tribal Chief was asked to rank the unpredictable match of WrestleMania. In response to this, he first said that he wasn’t able to digest it till now. However, after that, he explained in detail why this defeat can actually turn The American Nightmare into a bigger star. 

He said, “The response tonight to Cody Rhodes, which was louder than the response last week to Cody Rhodes, which was a response more passionate tonight for Cody Rhodes, which was a response of an audience that believes in Cody Rhodes this week more than they did last week when they hung their hopes into dreams on him and he didn’t disappoint them, we disappointed them we took that away from Cody Rhodes.”

To describe it in depth, Heyman broke down the reactions of fans from before till now. He simplified it to make people understand how fans’ love and belief in Rhodes increased with the development of his storyline.

While explaining, he also took the blame on himself for disappointing the fans at The Grandest Stage of Them All. The Wiseman mentioned that it wasn’t Rhodes who disappointed them, but Roman Reigns who took the title away from him. But how does that work in favor of Rhodes?

In the process of describing the business and its storytelling, the 57-year-old shed light on how The Tribal Chief has now become the villain of the story. He pointed out the fact that people are appreciating Cody Rhodes for coming this far and blaming Reigns for destroying everything.

Not only this, but they now know that if the two ever face each other again, it will end with Rhodes’ win. And according to Heyman, “That’s the business at its very best,” when it shows the star getting challenged to become much bigger than before. All this wouldn’t have been possible if The American Nightmare won the championship title as per Heyman. But now, everyone’s eyeing Rhodes’ redemption, and soon they might see him turning into a bigger star.
