Nick Aldis has had a great run as a wrestler in many promotions, including TNA, NWA, GFW, etc. He moved to the WWE in 2023 as a backstage producer. However, in October of the same year, he was publicly promoted as the General Manager of SmackDown by Triple H.
Now, as the GM, he’s done a commendable job. He’s taken the discipline of the product as a priority and ensured to play a competent authority figure. Unfortunately, he also had a bit of a back-and-forth with the USA Network.

Nick Aldis pulls a Tony Khan on Zelina Vega and the USA Network
Here is a quick recap of what went down with Aldis and the USA Network. It all started when Zelina Vega took to her social media account to ask Aldis why she hadn’t gotten a title shot. The last time she was in a title match was on the August 25, 2023, episode of SmackDown. The LWO star faced Iyo Sky for the title but lost.

While the tweet was simple, Aldis’s answer was not. On WWE’s The Bump, he claimed that she needed to earn her title shot. This drew the attention of Vega, who responded by saying Adam Pearce never had any trouble believing she did. This is where the USA Network got involved. They tweeted out, saying, “You’ve already proven it to us and the @WWE Universe. Should be the easiest decision SmackDown makes. You deserve this opportunity.”

This irked the GM, who responded by saying, “Haven’t you caused enough chaos this week?!” This was in reference to the USA Network’s tiff with Tony Khan and AEW. Khan recently announced that Hook will challenge Samoa Joe for the AEW World Heavyweight Championship. He claimed that it was a double standard that some wrestling fans took issue with a midcard wrestler challenging a world champion when Jinder Mahal did the same thing on RAW.

The USA Network retorted by making a reference to cagematch and asking about the rating of Jinder’s and Rollins’ match in NXT in an effort to mock Khan’s emphasis of cagematch ratings. Khan said that Mahal hadn’t won a match in a year and added that putting him in a big match has shown AEW their place and that the network should do it more often.
Nick Aldis being a thorn for everyone on Smackdown
While Aldis has enforced his rule on SmackDown, not everyone is okay with it. Along with Vega, another person who has an issue with Aldis is Roman Reigns. After talking to Aldis about issuing his boys to face Randy Orton and LA Knight, Aldis stood firm in his decision in the face of the Tribal Chief.

This past episode of SmackDown saw Aldis issue a fatal-four-way match at The Royal Rumble featuring Roman Reigns, LA Knight, AJ Styles, and Randy Orton. This came after Reigns interrupted his scheduled match. What do you think about Aldis and the USA Network?
