In May 2022, Randy Orton suffered a legitimate back injury which forced him to go on an 18-month hiatus from the WWE. The injury was so severe that even his father, Bob Orton Jr. revealed to the world that doctors have advised him to retire from wrestling. Despite that, ‘The Viper’ struggled his way through and came back to the ring.

Randy Orton plans to wrestle up to the age of 50

Orton hasn’t spoken about hanging up his wrestling boots since he came back to the Stamford-based promotion from his long recovery period. But he did reveal his retirement plans months before he suffered his career-threatening injury, which kept him away from WWE.
In January 2022, he gave an interview on a special episode of The Ringer Wrestling Show. During the interview, he disclosed that he wanted to wrestle up until the age of 50. After he crosses the 50-year-old mark, he will consider letting go of pro wrestling as a career. He said, “I’m 41. By the time I’m 50, I think I’m done.”

He added, “I’d say I’d wrestle until I’m 50 and I would go out and have that last match when I’m 50 and be able to say I did it on my own terms. That’s nine years from now. I don’t see an end to my career anytime soon. I’d like to continue to go.” He stated he would like to retire when he feels the time is right and on his terms.
Orton tries his best to be in his best shape
During the interview, ‘The Apex Predator’ also revealed that he does everything in his power to keep himself physically fit. Being a pro wrestler is very demanding and challenging. Therefore, he takes care of his body to be on top of his health so he can continue wrestling for his desired length of time.

He also revealed that he does auditions for the bigger screen once in a while, but that’s because his wife, Kim Orton, asks him to. He is still not ready to give up his pro wrestling career and make the shift to another territory because he loves wrestling.
