When it comes to the wrestler turned actors, the name that immediately comes after the great Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson is none other than John Cena. Cena has done a commendable job on the silver screen, transcending his wrestling legacy.

Fans always seem to wait for the next big release of the former world champion. Despite confirming his presence at WrestleMania 39 to compete against Austin Theory, Cena still has commitments to Hollywood that he has to attend, and now with the shooting of his new film ‘Grand Death Lotto’ underway another update has emerged.

The action comedy movie directed by Paul Fig stars John Cena, Awkwafina, and Simu Liu. The project recently has gone to floors and Dolly de Leon was unveiled as the new supporting cast. Leon, who recently earned massive recognition for her breathtaking performance in the Triangle of Sadness, signed for a role in the movie as per a report by Deadline on March 22.

The other supporting cast members include Ayden Mayeri, Seann William Scott, and Donald Elise Watkins. As of now, no further details have been known about the characters they will play.

 

Widely known for The Invisible Hours, Rob Yescombe has penned the script of this futuristic movie which revolves around economically backward California and the trap of a grand lottery in the area. To claim the lottery, the contenders have to fulfill a weird condition which is to murder the first winner before sunset.

Cena here plays the protector of the Awkwafina, the poor winner who eventually becomes the prime target of the killers.

The Cenation Leader has been away from wrestling for the last few years to focus more on his Hollywood career. Staying true to his commitment, Cena has been part of some amazing movies, including Trainwreck, Ferdinand, Blockers, Bumblee, and more recently The Suicide Squad.

That being said, the multi-talented Hollywood heavyweight didn’t forget his wrestling roots too. Hence, he made time for a WWE appearance from his tight Hollywood schedule for the upcoming WrestleMania 39 and will compete at the event.

He will face off against the current US Champion Austin Theory at the 1st Night of WrestleMania 39 on Saturday, April 1.
