Fans have witnessed the return of John Cena and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. Amidst the tension rising in the promotion due to budget cuts, this has breathed a new life, as fans are excited to see the former champions enter the ring again. However, with their return, WWE also gets the opportunity to capitalize on this phenomenon and rake in revenue. A former WWE star, Jeff Jarrett also talked about this aspect. Recently on his podcast, he said that pitting John Cena against this former champion at WrestleMania 40 would be a lucrative decision for the promotion.

Jeff Jarrett suggests that the 16-time world champion should fight a top star at WrestleMania 40

Since their return and WrestleMania 40 on the horizon, fans are wondering who these two stars will face off from the roster of pro wrestlers. Keeping in mind the current roster at WWE, according to Jarret, WWE should do some introspection to get the best answers. “You got to go for your bottom line, ‘How can I make the most money?’, he said. The idea does make sense as WrestleMania 40 will be a 2-day event, which means that WWE will have twice as much of an opportunity to make money.

“So you do Rock & Roman on one night. And on the other night, Cody has to finish the story. And I hate to use this line, but I think it is the most appropriate that I can come to my mind, is that — your father-in-law’s adage. ‘To be the man, you got to beat the man.’ So if Cody is going to be the babyface face of the company, all doors have to go through Cena.” implying that he has to defeat one of the biggest faces of WWE to become one of them..

“So you go, Cody [vs] Cena on the other night… That’s a big a*s back-to-back. Cena on one night, Rock on the other. I just think it’s huge,” he said by decisively stating that Cena vs. Rhodes should be on the second day. This will create a tremendous impact and will affect the earnings significantly.

Because the mega stars’s return has nothing but record-breaking for promotion, Jarret’s idea is something that WWE might think about. Fans would love to see the new face of WWE defeating the former face to claim the title. And this scenario holds credence because Cody Rhodes, in many ways, is similar to John Cena.

Is Cody Rhodes the new John Cena?

It’s not often that stars attain such heights that they are almost synonymous with the promotion. The heights attained by John Cena are unfathomable but fans believe The American Nightmare is slowly climbing the ladder. He is similar to John Cena in many aspects. Rhodes has been working tirelessly to make a name for himself. He was dependable when he was a mid-card performer. He is dependable now as a top contender. The former AEW star has been consistently delivering stellar performances, just like John Cena used to.

Apart from that, Rhodes has been showcasing his resilience and diligence just like The Leader of Cenation. John Cena also happened to face WrestleMania’s adversity arc. This helped make Cena a name for himself as a fearless pro wrestler. John Cena also had a tight hold over the younger audience. One reason was because of his brightly colored merchandise. Even though Rhodes dons The American Nightmare persona, his costume draws parallels to that of a superhero, thus attracting the young audience.
