“Give Him Cena or Orton”- an Emotional Night for Edge Makes Fans Go Even More Loud for It to Not Be His Last on SmackDown

SmackDown this week was an emotional ride. While the show delivered a plethora of moments, none more captivating than Edge going up against Sheamus in an absolutely epic encounter. Despite the outcome of the match being soothing for Rated R Superstar, it’s his post-show speech that has everyone’s attention.

In a gut-wrenching post-show promo, Edge gave an update on his current status, making fans extremely sentimental on social media. 

Edge puts on a classic against Sheamus

Edge and Sheamus tore the house down in one of the best matches of 2023. While fans were expecting a standard bout considering Edge’s limitations, the superstar went beyond his way to deliver inside the ring.

But it’s his segment after SmackDown went off the air that has everyone talking. In an emotional promo, the 49-year-old gave an update on his current run and addressed the retirement rumors.

He said he doesn’t know what the future holds for him and how he will have a thorough discussion with his family to come to a conclusion.

While it’s certainly disappointing to see the beloved superstar retire so soon, if he does, it will be a fitting way for the superstar to hang up his boots.

Getting to do this in his hometown in Toronto, with an opponent who instilled belief in him to return, the script can’t get any more perfect. But regardless, it left fans heartbroken on social media.

“If he retires, we riot” Fans become emotional 

After coming back in 2020, Edge has been unstoppable by having incredible feuds with the likes of Randy Orton, to name a few. While he didn’t have another world title run, fans were quick to address that on social media by wanting him to have one more run before he retires:-

“One more heel turn as a world champ and that’s it”

“Bro can’t end his career like this bro this man needs one more title run”

Some also suggested reliving the epic rivalries he had with John Cena and Orton once more.

“IF, and this is a big if, Edge indeed ISN’T done (yet), WWE y’all need to move heaven and earth and give us Edge vs John Cena one last time. 😭”

“One last match at Mania is what I’m thinking. Give him Cena or Orton”

Fans in Toronto and on the internet just couldn’t contain their emotions.

“We love you forever 😭 >>>>>>>>>>>”
