On the latest edition of the AEW weekly show Dynamite on Wednesday, the fans saw Sting namedrop Cody Rhodes inside the ring in front of the jam-packed crowd. This move from the 64-year-old star was a direct insult to MJF, who had been badmouthing him.

Every now and then, Tony Khan’s promotion namedrops some of the top names in WWE to gain reactions from the crowd. The same happened again yesterday. And it looks like the pro wrestling fans have gotten bored with the company’s tactic.

Taking a sly jibe at MJF, the WWE Hall of Famer said, “Stop talking about this ‘Cody daycare’ stuff, OK?” He then continued to mock Friedman by pretending to be shocked. “I said, ‘Cody,’ didn’t I? Oh! I said, ‘Cody!’ And the truth hurts, doesn’t it, Max? Because you had a cheerleader, you had a support system in Cody,” he continued.

The segment took place after Darby Allin defeated Swerve Strickland on the Wednesday show. The crowd of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, saw the reigning AEW World Champion come down the ring to insult the former. MJF took a shot at former two-time AEW TNT Champion by calling his mentor, his daddy.

He even insulted Allin using the words, “Sting’s b**ch.” This forced the former WCW Champion to make a return to the AEW ring after being off  TV for weeks. He came out to the ring to address Friedman and humiliated him.

The WCW legend brought up Rhodes, who used to be MJF’s support system, but now the former AEW star is in Vince McMahon’s promotion. He clarified that just as The American Nightmare was the 27-year-old’s cheerleader, the same way he is Allin’s cheerleader.
