Roman Reigns has reigned over the WWE as the Undisputed Universal Champion for almost 3 years now. With his upcoming title match at Crown Jewel 2023 against LA Knight, fans are hopeful the Head of the Table may be dethroned. However, during all this, one former WWE star acknowledged The Tribal Chief.

Reigns has multiple famous gestures and catchphrases, and when anyone uses them outside the WWE, it always seems like foreshadowing or a hint of something.

One of the staples of Reigns’ demands in the WWE has been to be acknowledged. Since turning heel, his need for being seen as The Tribal Chief has been riding him. It is also one of his signature catchphrases that fans love to hear. However, one unlikely former WWE star acknowledged the Head of the Table.

That former WWE star is CM Punk. While rumors circulate speculating his return to the squared circle, Punk has been seen relaxing in his downtime. While WWE denies wanting to take him back and IMPACT Wrestling making an offer, Punk took out some time to acknowledge Reigns.

The incident took place at the Chicago Blackhawks vs. Vegas Golden Knights match at the United Center on Saturday night. While in the crowd, the camera panned towards Punk, who held up the now iconic Reigns’ ‘One finger’ gesture.

Despite Reigns making the gesture famous, many fans found old photos of Punk doing the sign before Reigns. This sparked the question of who did it first, Punk or Reigns? This simple gesture may hint at Punk putting behind the previous beef he had with Reigns.

Reigns’ negative feelings towards CM Punk

While on the Load Management podcast in 2022, Reigns had some words for Punk. He said, “I don’t like the guy. I mean, I don’t know many people that do.” This came after Punk started a backstage brawl at AEW’s All Out PPV in September 2022. Reigns and Punk feuded while Reigns was part of The SHIELD in 2012.

Reigns also added, “But yeah, he probably has to be slapped around a few times in order to get his mind right.” The Head of the Table made it clear that with Punk’s actions in the WWE, his job as the Universal Champion got a lot harder. Despite these harsh words, Punks seems to have let the water go under the bridge amidst his possible return.
