On August 24, the world of wrestling was shaken to learn about the untimely passing of Bray Wyatt. Not only was Wyatt one of the most creative minds in WWE, but he was also a beloved wrestler. While the wrestling world is slowly coming to grips with Wyatt’s death, a former World Champion revealed how he was interested in joining The Wyatt Family. 

The Wyatt Family made its debut on the main roster in 2013. The Bray Wyatt-led nefarious faction initially included Luke Harper and Erick Rowan before welcoming Braun Strowman. So who was this WWE legend who thought he’d be a good fit in the villainous faction? It is none other than The Phenomenal One, AJ Styles. 

AJ Styles expressed how he wanted to be a part of the Wyatt Family

AJ Styles is a revered name in the wrestling world. The 46-year-old star has carved out a spectacular career for himself, having wrestled in promotions like WCW, NJPW, TNA, and WWE. That said, when he saw the debut of Bray Wyatt on TV, he began to ponder a way to be a part of the villainous crew. At the time, Styles was wrestling in NJPW. 

In a recent tribute video that WWE released in honor of Bray Wyatt, several superstars shared their memories of the “Eater of the Worlds.” AJ Styles, who is no stranger to facing the departed soul, disclosed wanting to be a Wyatt family member. 

He said, “Every direction, it was just I know that while I was in Japan, watching The Wyatt Family, I was thinking, ‘How could I be in this family? How could I find a way to be part of this crew?’ Because it was so awesome! And Windham did such a great job with Bray Wyatt. It’s unbelievable.” Over the years, The Wyatt family expanded. Stars like John Cena and Randy Orton were also once under the spell of The Wyatt Family.

As AJ Styles mentioned, it would be interesting to see Styles working alongside Bray Wyatt as allies. Without a doubt, Wyatt’s death has left a void in the wrestling world. The tribute show on SmackDown was nothing short of touching

Nonetheless, AJ Styles was present when the era of Wyatt began. Bray Wyatt pinned AJ Styles to capture his first-ever singles top Championship in WWE.

In 2017, the WWE Championship was contested in the unforgiving, Elimination Chamber. Then-champion, John Cena, and AJ Styles were also contestants in the match.

During the closing moments, fans were left with Wyatt and Styles vying for the proverbial brass ring. As Styles measured Wyatt for a Phenomenal Forearm, Wyatt countered into a Sister Abigail and pinned AJ Styles. 

Furthermore, Wyatt then went on to defend his Championship on an episode of SmackDown against John Cena and AJ Styles in a triple-threat match. Once again, Wyatt delivered Sister Abigail to John Cena and retained his title.
