WWE wrestlers don’t fall short of severe injuries. Long-term fans of the promotion have seen the worst of injuries during live matches. SmackDown’s Big E also suffered one such injury during a WWE match. During the match, fans caught Big E getting carried out of the arena on a stretcher.
The former WWE champion recently appeared in an interview. Big E explained what had happened while also shedding light on his recovery. The 37-year-old also hinted at a possible return while talking about the injury.

Among several other things, the podcast hosts couldn’t forget to ask Big E about his health. The wrestler provided them with great details without hesitation. He explained that he has been suffering from a ‘Jefferson fracture’, which is a complicated form of fracture. Big E further added that these kinds of fractures take a little more time to heal.
However, now he sees himself fit enough to take the next step. “We need to sit down with the doctors at some point and figure out what the next step is,” said the wrestler.
The former Intercontinental champion teased his WWE fans by saying, “From my perspective, I feel great. I have no function issues, and no pain issues. I’ve been in the gym for two weeks after I broke my neck. I’m feeling great.” Fans should also note that Big E’s neck will have to be healed to a certain level before he can enter the ring again.

However, since the wrestler started hitting the gym two weeks after his injury, he could probably return to the ring in the later part of this year .
Big E’s unfortunate injury
The injury took place during a SmackDown match in March 2022. Big E teamed up with Kofi Kingston to go up against Sheamus and his teammate Ridge Holland. While Sheamus and Kingston were wrestling inside the ring, Holland and Big E decided to take the feud outside the ring. At the moment, Holland picked up the 37-year-old and attempted to give an overhead belly-to-belly suplex.

When Holland executed the move, Big E was unable to adjust himself accordingly. As a result, his head hit the ground with enough force to fracture his vertebrae. he was carried out on a stretcher and has remained out of action since then. His road to recovery and rehabilitation has taken over a year and fans will be hoping to see him again in the ring.
