Former WWE US Champion Austin Theory was invited to WWE’s The Bump which premiered on RAW on October 18th. While another top WWE star was also brought in alongside Theory, the topic turned toward Theory’s match against The Rock on SmackDown. The interview was conducted a few days after The Rock returned to SmackDown after 4 years.
While Theory was beaten up in the ring, his co-star presented a different version of the story to the fans. The two heel superstars took on the opportunity to take a dig at The Great One.

The 34-year-old WWE superstar, Grayson Waller defended Austin Theory and slammed The Rock for his session on SmackDown. Waller said, “Handled? First of all, Austin destroyed The Rock on the mic. You know, it’s been a while since The Rock has been in the ring and I think he is not the same as he used to be. Austin, he put him on the ground like…”
Waller believes that Austin Theory owned The People’s Champ on the mic, something that The Rock was famous for. However, Waller excused The Rock stating that The Brahma Bull has gone rusty as he returned after 4 years. The Rock is not as good as his reputation is, hence it was easier for Theory to put him down, according to Waller.
However, the live crowd and other fans do not recall the incident in a similar capacity. The Rock not only owned Austin Theory on the mic but also slammed Theory in the ring. The People’s Champ delivered his People’s Elbow before Pat McAfee did the same to Theory.
The fans were electrified by The Rock’s presence as they gathered in huge numbers at the SmackDown show on September 15th. But The Rock could not make the fans happy outside of the squared circle.

Waller said, “When he came backstage he went round. He walked through the fans in the locker room, who wanted his autograph and thought they could get a photo. And he goes straight to his bus with Pat McAfee and he disappears from Colorado.” Waller did not leave any stone unturned to provoke fans against The Rock.
