The 37th edition of the Royal Rumble PLE will take place on 28th January at Tropicana Field, St. Petersburg, Florida. This year, CM Punk is considered one of the hottest superstars to win the Rumble and headline WrestleMania. Though the roster is filled up with multiple big names, there are 5 other superstars outside of WWE, who can electrify the crowd.
Five Royal Rumble appearances to electrify the crowd
1. Sasha Banks: After her sour exit from WWE in 2022, ‘The Boss’ made a successful career in NJPW. She became the IWGP Women’s Champion, and after her contract with NJPW expired, rumors of her return started spreading. In the past few months, various sources including Dave Meltzer of WON and PWInsider.com has reported on her return. While sometimes they claim Sasha Banks to return to WWE, sometimes they are confident she’s heading to AEW. Regardless, her return at Rumble will be epic, considering the legacy she has in the company.

2. AJ Lee: Former WWE Women’s Champion, AJ Lee last appeared in March 2015 on RAW. Since then, she took a long break and then subsequently retired. However, after strong rumours of a debut in AEW, the same has persisted when CM Punk returned to WWE. Fans have been expecting her to return as she is still fit enough, and has even posted videos of her getting in a wrestling ring.
3. MJF: The former AEW World Champion has been away from AEW since World’s End PPV, last year. Adding to the chilling storyline of the Devil, AEW has removed MJF from its roster. This is after year-long teases of starting a bidding war in 2024 for his signature. Along with it, MJF has teased fans of moving to WWE from AEW. As per interviews, MJF is currently a free agent and can appear wherever he pleases. Hence, fans have speculated a Royal Rumble surprise debut for MJF.

4. Conor McGregor: Royal Rumble is known for many epic returns and multiple celebrity debuts. After a legendary career in MMA, speculations of a WWE appearance was considered eminent for many years. In 2021, Sheamus said, [it’s a] “matter of when” for McGregor. However, recently Mark Henry gave a statement on McGregor’s appearance in WWE when he said on Busted Open podcast, “Do I think that he will be an entrant in the Battle Royal? No.” Regardless, fans still expect that McGregor to appear in the Rumble.

5. Kazuchika Okada: NJPW legend Kazuchika Okada has had the most decorated career in NJPW history. And now he is expected to wrestle for an American Promotion soon, after announcing his departure from the Japanese promotion. However, similar to his fellow NJPW superstar, Sasha Banks aka Mercedes Mone, he is widely in demand and has multiple suitors including AEW and WWE. But the timing of his exit has fans hoping they can hear the coin drop during the Rumble and witness the rainmaker debut in a manner similar to AJ Styles.
