5 Dream Opponents for Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson From the Current WWE Roster, Excluding Roman Reigns

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson vs. Roman Reigns is heavily in the talks to have a dream match at WrestleMania 40. But WWE may already have plans for the WWE Undisputed Universal Champion to face Cody Rhodes at the event. Therefore, the dream match everyone has been waiting for may not even take place. Yet, the WWE Universe may still witness Johnson in action.

Reigns may not be available to fight Johnson. However, other superstars in the current WWE roster could make ‘The Great One’s dream opponent. Here are the names of those five befitting candidates.

1) Randy Orton

Surprisingly, Randy Orton and Johnson have never faced each other one-on-one before. They have fought each other before (twice, the first time in a battle royal in 2003 and the second time in a three-on-two handicap match at WrestleMania 20) but never in a singles match.

In fact, in 2004, the two superstars even teased a feud during a heated in-ring segment, but it never materialized into a full-blown rivalry. 2024 may be the year the WWE Universe finally gets to see the two legends lock horns.

2) AJ Styles

AJ Styles may be another superstar that could end up being Johnson’s dream opponent. This is because, in 2019, he traded barbs with ‘The Brahma Bull on X. Steve Austin visited Raw in 2019 and delivered a stunner on Styles. Johnson praised Styles for selling the stunner perfectly.

But Styles being a heel at the time took offense anyway and insulted Johnson in his response tweet. WWE  could build on their brief yet interesting spat on X and make them go against each other.

3) Seth Rollins

During Johnson’s rivalry with CM Punk in 2013, The Shield attacked and triple powerbombed him in the middle of the ring. During a Seven Bucks Productions Instagram Live, he revealed that although he was on Reigns’ shoulder, Seth Rollins, in particular, threw him down so hard on that mat, that it busted his blood vessels and he coughed up blood. WWE could use this angle to build a storyline around them and pitch them against each other.

4) CM Punk

When talking about Johnson’s last run in WWE, people only remember his matches against Johns Cena. However, during that time, he also had some memorable matches against CM Punk. Before getting engaged with John Cena, ‘The People’s Champion’ had an interesting rivalry with Punk. Given how much the WWE University enjoyed seeing them on the opposite sides, WWE could reignite their rivalry as Punk is also back with WWE now.

5) Logan Paul 

Last but not least, Logan Paul could also be Johnson’s dream opponent. Paul and the $800 million-worth Hollywood actor used to be good friends, supporting each other until 2017. But the latter ghosted the former after the controversial suicide forest incident.

In December 2017, Paul and his friends went to explore the Aokigahara forest in Japan which is notoriously known as “Suicide Forest” because many people have taken their own lives in the woodland. During their exploration trip, he came across the body of a suicide victim, which he uploaded on his YouTube video.

The video received severe backlash on social media. But most importantly, it cost him his friendship with Johnson. johnson condemned his actions and cut all ties with him. Though Paul was sorry for his actions, he may want revenge from Johnson who abandoned him after the incident. Who do you think can be Johnson’s dream opponent?
